En 1835, Claude-Joseph Bonnet, fabricant de soieries à Lyon, établit une manufacture à Jujurieux pour concentrer toutes les opérations de la soierie, du cocon à l'étoffe. La partie industrielle comprend toutes les opérations soyeuses (étouffoirs à cocons, filature, moulinage, opérations préparatoires au tissage et tissage). En 1883, apparaît le tissage mécanique. L'usine assure sa force motrice avec machines à vapeur et salle des générateurs à partir de 1880. La première phase de construction (1835-1860) se caractérise par de hauts bâtiments rectangulaires. En 1882, apparaissent les premiers ateliers de tissage mécanique, auxquels est rajouté un bâtiment pour les étoffes unies en 1892. La première fabrique ainsi que la première chapelle sont détruites par un incendie en 1888. La chapelle est reconstruite par Sainte-Marie Perrin.Classement monument historique :
